The Central England region in this guide comprises the counties of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire.

This area streaches out from the North West edges of London and the Thames Valley to the Midlands. It includes a large part of the lovely Cotswolds area and the historic University city of Oxford which are popular tourist attractions. Bedfordshire is famous as the county for John Bunyan and includes part of the beeched wooded Chiltern Hills - popular with walkers. Buckuinghamshire also encompasses the The attractive Chiltern Hills.The river Ouse passes through the county. Northamptonshire has a reputation for its industrial past yet it is one of the most attractive counties in England, full of history and often overlooked. It has more counties bordering it than any other in England. This area is often overlooked but it is well worth the efford of patient discovery.
