Real Ale Pubs in Birchover (East Midlands)

The small village of Birchover is some 6 miles South of Bakewell. The Nine Ladies Stone Circle is to the North of the village. This is a Bronze age stone circle some 33 feet in diameter. The legend goes that each stone represents village maidens who were turned to stone for dancing on the Sabath.

The large accompanying King's Stone is thought to represent a fiddler who suffered the same fate as the maidens! Nearby is the Earl Grey Tower erected as a tribute to Earl Grey who carried the Reform Bill through Parliment in 1832. There are many delightful walks in this area.

Druid Inn, Main Street, Birchover, near Matlock , Tel: 01629 650302
